Legal Literacy and Awareness Camp: Empowering Students with Knowledge of Their Rights

Creating Awareness, Building Responsible Citizens

St. Joseph Convent Higher Secondary School, Khandwa, organised a Legal Literacy and Awareness Camp on 25th August 2026 for students of Classes IX–XII. The programme aimed to develop awareness among students about their legal rights and duties, child protection, POCSO, cyber safety, free legal aid and other important legal provisions.

The initiative provided students with an opportunity to understand the importance of being aware of the laws that protect them and the responsibilities they carry as young citizens.

Distinguished Dignitaries

The programme was graced by Mr. Virendra Joshi Ji, District Judge, and Mr. Dilawar Singh Ji, District Legal Officer. The school was also honoured by the presence of PLVs Ms. Anita Yadav and Ms. Neha Yadav.

The dignitaries were warmly welcomed by two students, who presented live plants as a token of respect and gratitude. The gesture reflected the school's spirit of welcoming its guests with respect while also promoting a culture of care and responsibility.

Understanding Rights, Responsibilities and Safety

During the camp, the resource persons interacted with the students and explained important legal provisions in a simple, accessible and engaging manner. The sessions focused on areas particularly relevant to young people, including child protection, POCSO, cyber safety, legal rights and responsibilities, and access to free legal aid.

The students listened attentively and gained valuable insights into how legal awareness can help them make informed decisions, recognise unsafe situations and understand the importance of responsible behaviour—especially in today's increasingly digital environment.

A Step Towards Responsible Citizenship

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks, expressing sincere gratitude to the distinguished dignitaries, PLVs, school management, teachers and students for their valuable contribution and cooperation.

The Legal Literacy and Awareness Camp was an informative, meaningful and enriching initiative, helping students understand that knowledge of the law is an important part of personal safety, responsible citizenship and a just society.

Through such programmes, the school continues to equip its students not only with academic knowledge but also with the awareness and confidence needed to become informed, responsible and empowered citizens.
